Unigene Laboratories, Inc.
Unigene hired the laboratory in question to conduct calcitonin experiments
on dogs.
Unigene states that it is not conducting any animal studies at this
time and that it is concerned with the “proper treatment of animals.” It
is also reportedly investigating our complaint and has asked for a
list of facilities that are “reputable and responsible in their
performance of studies and the treatment of animals.” While we
have no such list, we have offered the assistance of our scientific
advisor, who would be more than happy to work with Unigene to reduce
or eliminate the company’s use of animals. Please ask Unigene
to work with PETA to make its animal tests a thing of the past:
