Iams Slimes
In a desperate attempt to gain approval for its inherently cruel and worthless
laboratory experiments on animals, Iams is touting the support that it
has received from the National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA).
The board members of NAIA, a front organization that promotes and defends
the interests of those who exploit animals, include the following:
Joan Berosini, wife of orangutan
abuser Bobby Berosini, who was forced to repay PETA hundreds of thousands
of dollars in legal fees as a result of a suit brought against PETA
for showing
videotape of him beating the helpless orangutans.
Ed Walsh, infamous Boys
Town National Research Hospital kitten killer. The focus of a PETA
investigation, Walsh cut into the brains of kittens in cruel and useless
hearing experiments condemned by those in the hearing-impaired community.
As a result of our investigation and subsequent campaign, the cat and
kitten experiments were halted.
Joseph Bielitzki, D.V.M., the NASA veterinarian embarrassed
by the death of a monkey in the now defunct U.S./Russian space venture
called Bion. Bielitzki staunchly defended this cruel and antiquated
program in the face of PETA’s opposition and was ultimately humiliated
by a Washington Post editorial that supported PETA’s position.
Teresa Platt of Fur Commission USA, an organization that represents
the interests of those who cruelly breed and trap animals for their
fur.
Other NAIA board members are associated with the pharmaceutical, cattle,
and rodeo industries.
Never missing an opportunity to defend the abuse and exploitation of animals,
NAIA has expressed its support for Iams’ cruel and unnecessary laboratory
experiments on thousands of animals in a letter that Iams has proudly
posted on its Web
site. It would be difficult to believe that Iams doesn’t know
the stories behind the people who make up the board of NAIA or NAIA’s
true mission.
