Why does Iams make dogs (and those who love them) sick?
A fast-growing group of consumers, companion-animal supply stores, animal
shelters, and veterinarians have decided that they are sick of Iams’
cruelty to the dogs and cats kept in its labs for cruel and unnecessary
tests. A PETA investigation into an Iams contract laboratory revealed
routine neglect and misery:
- dogs kept in barren steel cages for up to six years at a time
- dogs gone insane from intense confinement
- dogs with their vocal cords severed and huge chunks of muscle cut from their
bodies
- dogs with tubes stuck down their throats
These tests are not required by law. Compassionate dog-food manufacturers
like Newman’s Own have proved time and again that reliable nutrition
tests can be done humanely in a home environment or veterinary clinic
with dogs volunteered by their human companions. If Iams’ stubborn
insistence on performing tests that are not required by law and causing
hundreds of dogs to suffer makes you sick, please don’t buy Iams
products. Instead, click here to see which
companion-animal food companies are not tested on animals in laboratories.
Would you like to bring the “Iamsick of Iams” Campaign to
your community? Please send the names of your local companion-animal publications
that might be interested in running our “Iamsick of Iams”
advertisements as a service to their readers to campaign coordinator Lauren McLane. You can also sponsor a billboard. First, find a billboard
company that will post the board, next make sure that you can afford the
posting costs, then click here to
contact PETA’s advertising representative.
